The Jumping Mouse Program is focused on getting kids outside building competence and confidence. We will explore the wild lands and learn from nature first hand  through games and traditional skill projects.  There are two semesters, one spring and one fall which can be taken together or separately.

Each week the students will be guided to further their education of wilderness self-reliance and naturalist studies. Each semester will have three to five themes that will run throughout, informing the curriculum, allowing us to go deeper into the subject and ensuring the students engage with the information and skills in a variety of ways. This creates a more thorough education and helps to build lasting understanding of our studies.

In learning these skills students get an opportunity to cultivate personal strength and understanding of oneself. Each day at the Jumping Mouse Program includes time working on core skills such as tracking and nature awareness, hands on projects with natural materials, physical movement and games and time learning about the landscape. As the months go by students begin to build their knowledge and understanding through practice and study and experience the achievement of completing long term skills projects.

As a note not all our children are homeschooled as Vermont is a “school choice” state and parents may decide to augment their child’s public school studies with a day at Roots.

This program often fills to capacity and we will be taking applications on a first come first serve basis. All enrollments need to be done online through our online registration and payment process.

If you have 9 year old please contact us to help determine if Jumping Mouse or Clovis is best for your child.
