Starting a Farm from Scratch: Part 1
by Chris Grataski
Building confidence and wilderness skills while having as much fun as we know how is what Roots Summer Camps are all about. Forest craft, wilderness skills like carving and fire building, animal tracking, nature study, games, exploration, and more await students at this week long day camp. This can be the perfect way to introduce children to wilderness skills and connections to the natural world.
Join us for an adventure into the wilds of Vermont. Locations are in both Marshfield and Corinth Vermont, generally Central Vermont and the Upper Valley areas. Dates and Prices are listed with each location. Ages 6-13.
When your child is with us, we understand their safety is our first responsibility and we take that seriously. One of the first things we do is teach hazards of the landscape that is our classroom such as poison ivy, ticks, spiders, etc. We follow a safety protocol for all sharp or edged tools. At every program there is at least one staff member with wilderness medical training. Our staff carries radios, and when applicable cell phones and all of our locations are close enough to not be considered "back country". We take pride in creating a safe environment for our students to experience the growth and self-discovery that comes from taking risks.
