What are Gait Studies? Gait refers to the movement pattern the animal is using and the corresponding gait pattern is left for trackers to interpret. In human terms, walk, jog, run, sprint, sit, stand, kneel, etc, etc.
Exploring the wilds, getting filthy dirty, learning to create with your hands, building confidence in yourself, and having so much fun you drop are all some of the best parts of childhood. Our children's programs strive to reach out to students as individuals to help them take responsibility for their own learning and behaviors. We work with children ages 6 and up, with all level of experience. We aim for one instructor per six kids.
When your child is with us, we understand their safety is our first responsibility and we take that seriously. One of the first things we do with every new group is to teach hazard awareness of the landscape that is our classroom such as poison ivy, ticks, spiders, etc. We follow a safety protocol regarding the use of all sharp or edged tools. Since accidents can happen, at every program there is at least one staff member present in each group who has current wilderness medical training. Our staff carries radios, and when applicable cell phones and all of our locations are close enough to not be considered "back country". We take pride in creating a safe environment for our students to experience the growth and self-discovery that comes from taking risks.
Get your kids outside and learning! Roots offers long term education for one day a week during the school year in Corinth and Marshfield. Our programs engage children in naturalist studies, hand skills, and learning the comfort and adventure to be found in the forest and fields.
