Wilderness Skills for Teens

Course Information

This camp is cancelled for the summer of 2020 due to Covid-19.

Have you wondered what it would be like to be out on the landscape and know how to take care of your needs with what is around you?  This is a five day course where we dig deep on wilderness survival skills and learn how to work with the land.

This course introduces students to our school’s main elements, survival skills, tracking, and awareness. In this week long course students will gain hands on experience and time tested information about survival shelterswater filtration and gathering, and friction fire skills such as bow drill and hand drill.

As we move into food gathering students will spend time harvesting and processing wild edibles, practice hunting skills.  We will be shooting bows everyday, gaining accuracy and working on stealth.

Tracking and awareness will support all of these skills as we learn the skills necessary to becoming a member of our ecosystem, not an alien struggling to survive.

Open to all skill levels. We do not just dump students in the middle of no where with nothing. This is course is designed to maximize what  you can learn well in one week, not to beat you up.

Students will also gain hands on time with rock tools, survival water vessels, cordage, and more. We keep this class small so expect more time doing than watching.

This is a day camp where we will meet from 9-5 Monday through Friday.
