How do we take steel and turn it into something useful? In this program we will cover the basics of blacksmithing through the lens of scrounging, foraging, scavenging and making due with tools and materials more readily available than specialty blacksmithing equipment.  We will look at improvised forges and construction, steel types and uses, tools, a wide variety of anvils, and basic blacksmithing techniques. With our knew skills we will make a few basic projects such as hooks, pokers, and basic awls. As well, students will leave with a ream of resources for how to pursue the craft forward.

Bring eye and ear protection, long sleeves and pants of non synthetic clothing, close toed shoes and notebook.

Class involves some hard work with hand tools and hammering.
