Willow Basketry

Course Information

Sat, 11/02/2019 - 9:00am to Sun, 11/03/2019 - 4:00pm
18 and up.

This is a daily course, please bring your own food. Camping is available by request.

In the Willow Basketry class students will learn how to locate, harvest, propagate, and weave willow, an ideal material for making baskets. You will learn a variety of weaving techniques over the weekend as you build your own basket. We begin with 2-strand twining, a technique found all over the world in ancient and modern times. Next, you will learn some waling techniques, followed by the attractive and durable weave structure produced by French Randing. During the class you will be encouraged to get creative with the design of your basket as you incorporate these weaving techniques into its unique construction. Early registration is strongly recommended because materials are limited.

2020 Class Dates:  Spring dates TBA;  taught by Sandra Kehoe!
