Making fire by friction can be a life changing experience for how exciting it can be to do something we as people have done for thousands of years.  Bring your son, daughter, mother, father, grandparents, and friends out to Roots for a day of learning one of the oldest techniques for making fire.

In this course students will learn the basics of fire that can save as well as enhance your life.  We will learn how to build secure structures, how to carve and use a bow drill kit in order to make fire from scratch, and talk about ways fire can be used for heat, light, and cooking delicious food. With a focus on bow drill, students will get to carve their own kits and learn all the points of form and technique that allow this ancient tool to work.  As well as bow drill we will look at a few other fire by friction techniques.

This course is open to students ages 7 and up *** children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult who also wants to learn these skills.   The course will run from 10 AM- 4 PM
