In our effort to reach out to as many people as possible, and to share the knowledge and experience of primitive and survival skill, ROOTS is committed to working with Museums, Universities, and Schools. It is our hope that we can custom tailor our courses to the needs of specific settings. In working with existing organizations and creating connections to other learning institutions we hope to grow a larger community of people educated in these ancient arts.
Schools
Children of all ages share an immense natural draw to the Earth. Primitive skills, tracking, and nature awareness are a central part of every cultures distant past. ROOTS believes that working with children in and outside of the school setting can supplement their education in amazing ways. In our experience, hands on and experiential education can have deep and lasting impacts in the lives of our children. Helping to grow critical thinking skills, self-esteem, group cooperation, and a strong and dynamic connection to the Earth are our main goals in working with schools and their students.
Museums and Nature Centers
Natural History and Native American Museums as well as Nature Centers naturally draw in those who seek a connection to the past and to the natural world. ROOTS would be excited to provide programs in the form of primitive skills demonstrations, lectures, and workshops through museums and nature centers throughout New England.
Colleges and Universities
Primitive living skills, tracking and awareness, and survival skills can offer a great deal in the college or university setting. Working with Anthropology, Archeology, Botany, Sustainable Living, Environmental Education, and Physical Education Departments, Outdoor Clubs, and Environmental Organizations are just a few options for how our skills and knowledge apply to the collegiate world. In class-demonstrations are available, as well as, extra-curricular workshops aimed at the whole of the student body.
ROOTS is committed to fitting your needs by designing workshops, demonstrations, and lectures around the setting in which they are taught. If you wish for us to modify a pre-existing class, or simply run one at your location, that is an option as well.
